Autism is a neurological disorder that affects one in sixty-eight children in the US. Boys are more likely to be born with Autism, than girls. It is described as someone who has trouble developing relationships. Children with Autism have a hard time communicating and are fascinated with the littlest details. Autism is one of the most common disorders found in the US. Children are born with Autism. Early on in America’s history, people thought that Autism was caused by bad parenting, but this has been found to be not true. It is not contagious and there is no cure for Autism. There are some scientists that think they might have figured out why Autism happens. Some scientists think there is a gene or a faulty gene that could cause Autism. Others think it is caused by a chemical imbalance, a virus, or even lack of oxygen during birth. There is even a scientist who thinks Autism …show more content…

There are three different levels of severity. The first level is “requiring support,” which means that without support, they lack social skills and it is noticeable. They have a hard time starting conversations and their responses are vague. They also aren’t usually interested in having conversations (images.pearsonclinical.com). The second level of severity is “requiring substantial support.” They lack verbal and non-verbal skills with their communication. It is very noticeable. They barely spark a conversation. Their sentences are vague, simple, and are very short. They have a hard time with change and have repetitive motions (images.pearsonclinical.com). The third level of severity is “requiring very substantial support.” They are severely lacking in verbal and nonverbal conversations. Almost no response and no conversation. Very little, almost no, interactions with others. They have an extremely hard time with change and are very repetitive. They have a hard time focusing
