Although there is no specific cause of autism, there is more and more evidence that autism can be caused by many different problems. There is some indication of a genetic influence in autism. For example, there is a greater chance that two identical twins will have autism than two fraternal twins. Right now, a lot of researchers have been focusing on trying to locate the 'autism gene. Many researchers are concluding that three to five genes are likely to be associated with autism. Other research has shown that depression and/or dyslexia is very common in patients that are shown to have autism. There is also evidence that a virus can cause autism. There is an increased risk in having an autistic child after exposure to rubella during the first trimester of the pregnancy. (Inc.,
