The first thing that I will talk about Brazil is the geography. Brazil is located in Eastern South America, bordering the Atlantic Ocean. Brazil is the largest country in South America, and in the southern hemisphere. The climate is mostly tropical, but is temperate in the south. Brazil is known to have terrain that is mostly flat to lowlands in the north, but have hills and mountains by the coastal belt. Brazil is highly recognized for its beautiful landscape and views. Not only does it show its tropical beauty, but Brazil has many natural resources such as: bauxite, gold, iron ore, manganese, nickel, phosphate, platinum, tin, rare earth metals, uranium, petroleum, hydropower, and timber. The median age in Brazil is 31.1 years. For males it’s 30.3 years and females 31.9 years. The population growth in Brazil is 0.77% (2015 est). Brazil has a birth rate of 14.46 births/1,000 people, which is higher than the death rate of 6.58 deaths/ 1,000 people (2015 est). In Brazil the infant mortality rate is 18.6 deaths/ 1,000 live births. This isn’t a very high number, which is good. The infant mortality rate is an estimate of the number of infant deaths for every 1,000 live births. What does this rate indicate some may ask? It’s often used as an indicator to measure the health and well being of a nation. Factors affecting the health of an entire population can also impact the mortality rate of infants.
