Kidnapped, stolen, lied to, stripped away from everything normal. This is just a broad list of what goes on when you are trafficked. Human trafficking is the illegal movement of humans. Trafficking is one of the biggest epidemics happening all over the world, even in our own country. People just like us, are taken from their family and being forced to do unspeakable things and work long hours with no pay or very little pay. Human trafficking doesn’t just happen in a couple of places or just one like many problems around the world, it can happen all over the world. It is most apparent in third world countries or places with not much protection of awareness of this issue. This helps us understand what they go through and why it is such a large issue. In the book, Breaking Free: True Stories of Girls Who Escaped Modern Slavery, it talks about the experiences of the young girls who were taken from their homes and were trafficked. There was a one girl named Solamy in this book and it talked about her experience of being a slave. She was taken by someone she called "Grandfather" and sold and used to pay debts by someone who was her guardian. Somaly was then sold and forced to a marry a soldier ten years older than her. She was put into brothels and used as a sex slave. She also worked and met with girls and promised to get them help. The story gave facts about what happened and it tells of horrible and disgusting facts. "Men in Cambodia will pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to rape a virgin for a week because of a virgin's "magical" powers. The brothels today will often sell girls who are five or six years old. After the week is over, the girls are sewn up on the inside so they still look like virgins. Then they can be sold again." (Sher 19). Somaly is a girl who went through what the horrors of human trafficking brings. She is one of the people who are able to speak out about their experiences and help make a difference about it. There is an extreme amount of terrifying acts going on to little girls all around the world. They are kidnapped from their homes and forced to do ridiculous things you see that happened to Somaly. This is just one of the many many children and women that are put through trafficking that is happening all over the
