What is the best treatment for breast cancer? Is the traditional treatment the way to go? There are many treatments out in the world of cancer. Only one can be the best as we know it; radiation therapy. There are many treatments that are being used in the world today, to treat different cancers. There are new treatments being created over time, but radiation still is the traditional treatment through years as seen from hospitals. The newer therapies have not been studied enough creating people to worry about their health. Even though radiation has a history of causing side effects, it destroys cancer cells to relieve pain, it is allowed to be used with other therapies to improve treatment, and it contains no sign of spreading through the …show more content…

Therefore, the history of radiation is that it has been around since 1895, and since that day, radiation therapy has been the most used treatment for all types of cancer such as breast cancer. It is a strong electromagnetic way that goes into the body to relieve cancer. The other way is to do brachytherapy, it is an implant to the tissue to target one place, in which is a limit of a dose of radiation applied to the body. With these two choices, it becomes to be one of the most used therapies to treat cancer. This leads radiation to be used for breast cancer for it is a very common cancer and one of the worlds deadliest type. Breast cancer is caused by cancer cells, they duplicate and spread through the body and are not controlled. Around 1 of 8 women in the U.S. has a sign of breast cancer. Breast cancer will develop even more through time as parents will transfer cancer to her children and continue the spread. For men, breast cancer is not very common, only 1 of 1,000 men have breast cancer. After the cancer is found, the estimated time they will live is a 5-year survival rate. Breast cancer can lead to DCIS making the risk extremely high for death. DCIS is when milk ducts in the breast become cancer and the death rate of the diagnosed women is 98% to 99% will not be alive at this stage 0. This can be treated with radiation to lower the risk of death. The frightening fact about all this is that about 40,290 women will die from breast cancer this
