Many of us face difficult challenges that are life changing and impact our future on who we grow up to be. We can decide to thrive despite with their guidance and support. I choose the latter, but it wasn’t an easy or quick process to get to where I am today. I want to make those people who have supported me proud. Their help and encouragement make me keep going forward towards the finish line.

As our society develops and changes, I have come to realize the importance of a higher education and that is why the Bridges Summer Program is exactly what I need to succeed in college. I realize that to be part of this program I need to work hard, but I am committed on giving it my all and face any obstacles that I may encounter in my path. I have potential but like any other non-perfect person I lack in some departments. In my mind, there is always room for improvement. I want to become the best possible me that I can grow to be, not just personally but career wise. I would love to be part of something that has the best interest in me being a contributing citizen in our society.

So when it came to going to high school, my brother and I knew that since we are Americans citizens we could have our education in the United States. America was our land of opportunity.
