FEATHERS OF HOPE Proverbs 13:12 ‘Hope deferred makes the heart sick: but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.’ I have bad news and good news for you today. The story of Naomi recorded in Ruth chapter 1 is familiar to all of us. Naomi was a woman who while in Moab lost her husband Elimelek and soon after lost her two sons Mahlon and Chilion (Ruth ch.1 vs.3-5). As the story progresses we find that Naomi and Ruth returns to Bethlehem. There we see Naomi telling the people ‘Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.’(Ruth ch.1, Vs.20). In every hopeless situation, let us remind ourselves that our treasures are not on this earth but are in heaven where moths do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal and when tempests rage in our lives let us boldly say ‘I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens
