How Bruce Lee Influenced A New Generation of Martial Arts

For centuries, martial arts has been a construct of fighting in not only Eastern Asia but across the world. As a matter of fact there are various type of Martial Arts that have been created, but it originated in Europe around the time of the 1550’s. “Martial Arts is practiced for a variety of reasons such as, self-defense, competition, physical health, fitness, entertainment, as well as mental, physical and spiritual development”. The term was originally derived from the Latin word which means, “Art of Mars” the Roman god of war. However, not all martial arts revolve around weapons and fists, it can even be used in medicines as well. Traditional Asian cultures used practices such as bone-setting, herbalism and many others that are for healing purposes. One of the more greater know practices of Martial Arts is meditation. The use of breathing and relaxation techniques are meant to let the user open their mind and let go of all surroundings and attachments. One of the very few people who could actually and accurately as well as successfully use the majority of these practices at once was Bruce Lee. This film set new box office records in Hong Kong. More records were being broken in Hong Kong with his next movie “The Chinese Collection”, even though the reviews were poor and the critics thought so as well in the U.S. By the end of 1972, Lee was the co-founder of Concord Productions which released its first directional film, “Return of the Dragon”. Although he did not gain publicity in America, Lee was soon in the work of a new project called, “Enter the Dragon”. “Shortly before the release of his new film Enter the Dragon, he died at the age of 32, July 20 1973”. Supposedly, the main cause of Lee’s shocking death was from a reaction he was getting from the painkillers he was taking fro his back injury. The autopsy showed that due to this reaction, the unexpected death was from a brain edema.
