Country Music Hall of Fame It’s a warm summer night with people dancing and singing along as Tim McGraw performs on stage. If you’re into country music then I’m sure you’ve heard of him, he’s one of the world’s most popular country singers. Mcgraw started his music career when he was only 26 years old. About five years later McGraw married Faith Hill.
John Wayne Gacy was born on March 17, 1942, at Edgewater Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son among two sisters born to Polish and Danish parents. Gacy was raised Catholic and attended Catholic schools his whole life. He was well liked by all his faculty, coworkers, friends and fellow boy scouts. His childhood seemed normal on the outside, however his relationship with his father was far from perfect.
Johnny Cash typically wrote his own material that he performed, however he was involved in many collaborations and small bands on the side where he worked with other artists to write music. In 1954, Cash auditioned for Sam Phillips’, Sun Records. Once signed with the record label, Cash wished to sing gospel music due to his background with work songs, church music, and folk songs. However, Sam Phillips did not agree with Johnny Cash’s idea. By the following spring, Cash was recording music in Sun Records with his band “The Tennessee Three.”
His parents divorced when he was young. His mother left, taking her daughter with her. In high school he joined a rock and roll garageband. But his interest shifted to country music. In his home town he would attend many country music performances which is where he got his inspiration.
Armstrong was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1901, even though he sometimes said later in his life that he was born on July 4, 1900. He was raised by his mother and grandmother after his father, who was a factory worker, left the family while Armstrong was still a child. His family was very poor, and as a child Armstrong worked many odd jobs to help support the family. Armstrong was surrounded by music while working and playing in the streets of New Orleans. Since he could not afford an instrument, he learned to sing and joined a vocal quartet that sang on street corners for a little extra money.
On March 17, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, John Wayne Gacy, Jr. was born to John Wayne Gacy, Sr. and Marion Elaine Robinson as the second of three children. Gacy was very close to his mother and sisters as a child, but had a very troubled relationship with his alcoholic father because he was abusive. He was struck in the head when he was 11, forming a blood clot that caused him to suffer blackouts beginning when he was 16. Other than the issues with his father and the blood clot, John Wayne Gacy lived a seemingly normal childhood. He attended four high schools in four years, eventually dropping out and moving to Las Vegas.
Jimi’s early years weren’t so easy. His parents went through a rough patch in their marriage and got divorced in 1951. Hendrix was only at the age of nine when his parents split. His mother died when he was only fifteen. She died of liver cirrhosis because of her drinking habits.

The artist I will be discussing for my research project is the country music legend and superstar, Garth Brooks. He has been a big fan of mine my entire life, and I love his music. When he was just starting out, he did not have much success. He went to Oklahoma State University and sang in a bar called Willy’s Saloon down on the Strip in Stillwater. Us Oklahomans always feel warm hearted towards stars like him that realize throughout all of his fame and success; he still remembers and is proud of where he came from.
From a little boy, who loved singing to a country music icon; Johnny Cash will be forever remembered as a music legend. Such songs as “Folsom Prison Blues,” “I Walk the Line,” and “Ring of Fire” will always be etched in history. But more fascinating than the songs, is Johnny’s life as he writes his greatest hits. He believed the launch of his music career was one of the greatest achievements of his life. On the contrary, his life soon emulated that of a prison rather than a success, which prompted “Folsom Prison Blues.”
Bob Marley. Bob Marley, not only was he one of the best artist around the world, but he changed and inspired people. He had an ever-lengthening list of accomplishments attributable to his music, he agitated for social change, while at the same time allowing listeners to forget their troubles and dance. Spreading “positive vibrations” from Sierra Leone to Manhattan. The Way Bob Marley inspired people was incredible, he managed to put people's hopes up and put a smile on each individual.
Jazz was born in New Orleans about 100 years ago (early 20th century), but its roots can be found in the musical traditions of both Africa and Europe. In fact, some people say that jazz is a union of African and European music. Most legends are known for excelling in a specific field or for doing something so impactful on the world that they will be remembered for ages. What set Louis Armstrong apart from others considered to be legends is that he did this multiple times throughout his life and with ease. Over time there have been many people that have impacted the world and society we live in.
William Count Basie was born on August 21, 1904 and was raised in Red Bank, New Jersey. Basie was raised by Harvey Lee Basie and Lillian Ann Childs Basie. Harvey Lee worked as a Coachman and also as a caretaker for a wealthy judge. As cars became more popular, the coachmen occupation was not needed. As a result, he became a handyman for wealthy landowners.
“The Man in Black,” country musician, songwriter, and actor, the Identity of this legend is Johnny Cash. The man in question has a mentality stronger than steel, In an interview in 1993 Cash said this, “Someone else said ‘every day in every way I’m getting better and better,’ I didn’t ‘specially believe that about myself, but I said it everyday and I made myself it and it worked”(“Johnny Cash 1993 Interview”). Through his determination, he ensured his success: , “I went and knocked on that door and was turned away, I called back for an interview three or four times, was turned away, so one morning I found out what time the man went to work I went down with my guitar and sat on his steps until he got there.” Because of Cash’s conviction to make it in the music industry, he spoke with the man who could have turned him away, but he said, ‘Come on in let’s listen.’”
