Gacy was raised Catholic and attended Catholic schools his whole life. He was well liked by all his faculty, coworkers, friends and fellow boy scouts. When the police were notified, they did the most logical thing and went straight for the contractor that had supposedly offered Robert the job, John Wayne Gacy. The police had told him about the disappearance and asked him to come down to the station for some questions. Gacy refused, but agreed to meet them later on. Gacy gave a statement saying that he had no information about the boys disappearance, and was released immediately with no further questions. However the lead detective in the case was not so sure. He ordered a background check on Gacy and was astonished by his findings. On December 13, 1978 the detective got a search warrant and searched Gacy’s home while he was away. Inside the home they found plenty of evidence that shed some light on Gacy’s dark side.
