John Wayne Gacy Jr. was born in Chicago, Illinois in March 1942, where he was beaten down by his alcoholic abusive father. Although he had close relations with his sisters and mother, Gacy yet sought for the acceptance of his father. At the ages of 5, 7, and 8, he was sexually abused by a family friend of his father’s. By the third grade, Gacy had suffered from blackouts, which resulted in retaining him from school. With that, his grades started to decline. He eventually headed to Las Vegas to leave his dysfunctional family where he ultimately worked as a mortuary attendant. Even his father admitted to he was wrong about him, and Gacy described as having the perfect life, along with his two children. As Gacy ascended through the ranks of the Jaycees, he learned about the circulation of wife-swapping prostitution and abundant drugs, happening below the surface of the organization. Gacy regularly took part in the activities, inspiring him to open a club in his basement, often getting teenage boys drunk to make sexual advances. In 1967, Gacy committed his first known sexual assault by getting a 15 year-old boy drunk and persuaded the boy to perform oral sex on Gacy. He had his ways throughout his criminal life course by using lies involving money and bribing, to saying he was carrying out homosexual experiments for scientific research. In between his criminal behaviour, Gacy was a model citizen in all the communities he has been a part of. In 1975, Gacy joined a group called the Jolly Jokers, and took part in performing at parties and events, going as far as to creating his own persona, Pogo the clown.
