Task 1 - Part 1A RESEARCH REPORT

Introduction

The main aim of this research report is to make people have a better understanding of how important innovation is for a business. This research is based on Samsung mobile which is one of the most android phones across the word. The number of people using Samsung phones is to a great extent. In this research we’ll discuss about the different type of innovation.

Innovation and Innovator

Innovation is the process of translating an idea or an invention into a good or services that creates value and customer will be willing to pay for that. On the other side, innovator is simple described

It enhances the quality and improving the overall performance of the product. Product innovation are in two areas:

 New product – These are goods and services that differ significantly in their characteristics. They are completely new products on the market, i.e. the product has never been on the market before. It may be a new brand, new model or new software. For example, Samsung mobile can now have ‘Face Recognition’ to unlock the device.

 Existing product - This is when they come up with some slightly minor changes in the product that was on the market already so as to extend its uses. It may be adding some more interesting features that will tempt the customer to try and buy the product. For example, now Samsung mobile has been improving its camera with more clear and excellent quality and adding the feature ‘live focus’. In general, also the entire system has been updated.

Process Innovation

Process innovation refers to the implementation of a new or an improved techniques or delivery method. Process innovation can be intended to decrease the unit cost of production or delivery to increase the quality of the product. Process innovation can be differentiated by production methods or delivery

Increased market share: There has been a major innovation on Samsung smartphones across the world during the past years. Samsung now has a great market share in almost every country. Not surprisingly! We’ve been living in the world of technology recently.

II. Recognition as a brand: Samsung devices are known worldwide. It has become so famous brand that out of 10 at least 8 would own a Samsung mobile.

III. Profitability and sales: Samsung mobiles has been very successful on the market. Its sales have increased enormously with the new launch of the ‘Samsung Galaxy s8’ and the ‘Note 8’

Challenges and problem faced.

Last year Samsung mobiles have been facing lots of problems due to the Note 7. They said that the phone caught fire easily and it was all other the internet. There were some problems regarding the batteries which caused the phone to catch fire. After long wait it has now come with the ‘Note 8’ which is very well preferred by its customers.

Technology challenge

Every day there is an innovative technology on the market. Samsung mobiles have to asses and work on the latest one and try to inculcate it in its upcoming phones or for some recent updates in the software.
