Each show uses the same main aspects used by Forensic Scientists in assisting law enforcement, that Emily Fisher “Deconstructing the CSI Effect: Forensic Science & the Media.” Fisher also uses an example of NCIS: One Shot One Kill episode, to explain that the procedures in finding the bullets were incorrect. The episode is based on a Navy Recruiting officer being shot in his recruitment office by a sniper. In reality, under circumstances of easily finding a bullets in walls wouldn 't be accessible.

CSI agents work in laboratories but often travel to crime scenes at different locations, they also determine the who, what , how and where of a crime. According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistic, they also take photographs, draw sketches, and write notes about their observations. While analyzing data many tools are used such as tweezers, black lights and kits as part of their methods.
Evan Durnal collected evidence from many studies to show how watching television drama shows about forensic science changes the way people see it. Durnal studied one case where the jurors immediately brought up the bloody jacket that was not tested for DNA. They did not know it wasn’t needed because the defendant was there at the crime scene. Discuss the “most obvious symptom of the CSI effect.”
My thoughts Forensic science is used everywhere. It can be used to arrest and convict someone of a crime. Before watching The Real CSI video, I thought using fingerprints and DNA will get you 100% accurate results. Throughout the video my thoughts about the subject began to change.
“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” was not the first crime show to hit the TV screens and it certainly is not the last. In response to its popularity and growing franchise, a controversial term was introduced in courts and through the media. It is called the CSI effect. The CSI effect has been closely defined as a trend that claims, through watching crime-related programmes such as “CSI” or “Law and Order”, the public, mainly people completing jury service, have their views about forensic evidence influenced. This primarily creates preconceived beliefs which allegedly affects the criminal justice system in many ways.

Being a Forensic Science Technician is not an easy job, you have to be able to work under pressure and in high stress environments. A lot of what Forensic Technicians do is complicated, such as, obtaining evidence from crime scenes, collecting fingerprints to find the suspect or suspects, finding someones cause of death and what weapons were used to kill them and a lot more. It is a tedious job that deals with hours in the office, frustrating dead ends, and sometimes no leads to who the suspect is. The work environment for Forensic Technicians changes day by day.

The CSI effect is common among jurors and other people because they assume everything they see on tv shows like Law and Order and Criminal Minds is what really happens in real life cases. The juries who believe in this misconception can cause a problem in the courtroom because they would question why everything isn’t being subject to forensic analysis. Also some jurors may believe that forensic science is a perfect science thats always accurate however they ignoring the possibility of human or technical error. In the movie “The Real CSI”, it is stated that someone can be considered an expert based on knowledge, skill, experience, training or education, the real issue is that once a judge says they can testify they are considered and expert.
As a big fan of television shows such as CSI Miami, Law and Order: SVU, and Criminal Minds, I can definitely understand why these types of shows can be an issue within the criminal justice system, due to their fictional investigations and how they make their task of solving crimes by using high tech equipment seem so easy. Even though I’m a big fan of the entertainment of these types of shows, I know the difference between reality and over exaggerated fiction. In the research, I found a term that is used called The CSI Effect. The CSI effect is “a belief held primarily among law enforcement personnel and prosecutors that forensic science television dramas, such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, influence American jurors to expect more forensic evidence in order to convict defendants of crimes” (Roberts, 2016).
In today’s world, many people have stressful jobs and find them overwhelming. In researching the occupation of a forensic analyst and how it might impact my future, I discovered it to be particularly challenging. There is pressure to prevent wrongful convictions and to solve the crimes quickly. In addition, the burden of knowing many cases is unsolved. A Forensic analyst must navigate the challenges of technological advancements, unsolved crimes, and their own mental and emotional well-being.
A number of criminal movies increases every year. There are dozens of films and videos where actors investigate various murders and catch criminals. After watching 21st episode of the seventh season of the "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, I understand that not every case can be solved easily. Unfortunately, I have seen some cases on TV where suspects have not been arrested even though they were guilty. In such cases, FBI agents begin to build their own idea of crime and even put it in the place of crime to think what they would do in the same situation.

When I think of the word "mystery", immediately thoughts of adventure, riddles and clues stream into my head. Every since I was a child, I had always been fascinated with the unknown and figuring out puzzles that others couldn't solve. My love for mystery influenced me to read books such as Sherlock Holmes or The Hardy Boys. Though I knew that I wanted to pursue my interest as a career, I did not know what it would be called. Now that I have found out, I without a doubt believe that CSI (or crime scene investigation) is my calling and destiny.
The educational path required to achieve my goal of becoming a forensic scientist will be a long, exhausting process.
