Cadet Advisory Council Essay

Cadet Advisory Council (CAC) is a very important aspect to Civil Air Patrol’s success. It insures that Squadrons, Regions and Wings are connected, and that Cadets can input their ideas to make Civil Air Patrol better as a whole. Here are some things you need to know before any and all CAC meetings:
Check your email. This very important to staying active in CAC. Most communication is via email, so make sure you have a reliable email that you can check every day.
Know when the meetings are. The CAC chair will send an email to remind you a least a week and a half before a meeting, which are once a month on Sunday evenings, so you have plenty of time to prepare and clear your schedule.
Be prepared. The CAC chair will send an agenda the Monday or Tuesday

If you know you are not going to attend the meeting, email the CAC chair as soon as possible. Feel free to email him/her if you have any questions or concerns as well.
Emailing. When you are emailing, make sure to always remain professional!

What to expect at a CAC meeting
Pre-preparing for the meeting. You will receive the meeting schedule before every meeting, be prepared to state how many people are on the roster and active in your squadron, so you need to go to eservices and write it down on a printed out version of the schedule.
Fifteen minutes before. make sure to get in a quiet room with all of your materials laid out including a pencil or pen, your schedule, and a computer or tablet with internet connection.
Five minutes before. On the schedule, a number and code will be written at the top of the the page. It is customary that 5 minutes prior to the meeting, you call. To do so, call the number written, then input the code to enter the conference. Once you are in, state your name and grade when asked. If you are watching and not participating, state you are observing as well.
