The person that I interviewed was Autumn Tomas. She is the Director of Head start/Early Head Start. Her role/responsibility as the director is the day-to-day management and oversight of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program for Episcopal Children Services. I interviewed her at her office on July 27th 2016 and our interview lasted about 45minutes. The first question that I asked her was “What are the roles and responsibilities of the overall board”? She gave me the program governance and went over them with me. It stated that “The ECS Board of Trustees serves as the Governing Body and is responsible for approving all information sent to them via the Policy Council, including management procedures and functions of the program, internal controls, …show more content…
The Board of Trustees will have primary responsibility of approval of resolutions for funding, personnel policies and procedures and approval of overall program policies.” (Policy and procedures for Episcopal Children Services) She then stated “In term of the quality they have the legal aspects to think about. They are all about staying in compliance and raising money to help the quality.” I asked her “How often the board meets?” She stated “Meetings occur monthly with the exception of July and August.” The last question that I asked was “What is your perception/interpretation of the positive and negative aspects of this program’s board?” She stated “The negative would be that they know the overall parts of Head Start and they receive information that details this, but they do not know that day to day operations of the program. The positive is that they all volunteer their time because they believe in the mission and they are very passionate about the work that we do. I felt that since I worked for this company that she did not really want to give me her opinion and that her answers were very political and or
