The couple that I interviewed was Graylon and Chrystal Miller. Graylon and Chrystal have been married for twenty-two years and have three children named Nate, Sydney, and Caden. I chose this couple because of the relationship that I have with them. I have been dating their son, Nate, for three years and we are getting close to being engaged, so it was really cool the different ideas, advice, and comments that they shared with us. It also was a really good bonding experience; obviously, they know that we are going to get engaged soon so it was really interesting to see the differences in their answers knowing that we are going to be going through the same thing in a short time. The major areas that I talked to them about were as follows: changes throughout marriage, dealing with finances, children, conflict resolution, and sex. Graylon and Chrystal started out super broke. Graylon was in college when they got married so their first few years were just “living on love.” There was even a point where they had a single nickel in the bank. They mentioned that they never had nothing because of good budgeting and frugal practices. This is when each other come into major play. Both said to discuss children before you get married and make sure that there are not huge differences between each other. The biggest issue with children is the change that it will bring to the marriage. The whole dynamic will change, and sacrifices will have to be made for both the husband and the wife. This part was really funny and interesting because we found out that Nate was an accident and they were not planning on starting a family when they got pregnant. Graylon described it as “the best surprise anyone could ever receive” and Chrystal said that “God has a plan and sometimes we think we know best when we really don’t.” Both agreed that having kids is a huge commitment, but way worth
