In the novel, Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck demonstartes camaraderie as well as treachery throughout the novel. These are the most crucial themes. Camaraderie and treachery are not only demonstrates by the protagonsist, George and Lennie, but also shown by the supporting characters, Candy and his dog. Candy’s relationship with his dog is just like George’s relationship with Lennie. This friendship is mostly based on depending on each other. Lennie depends on George just like Candy’s dog depends on Candy. Also, Candy depends on his dog for friendship and companionship. Eventhough, George doesn’t show that he needs Lennie’s help, Lennie is a companion and a friend he shares a goal with. Lennie like Candy’s dog is weak. Lennie
