All Tita's life she has been extremely emotional, considering she was born in the kitchen, she pours her emotions into the dishes she creates. The author conveys multiple symbols throughout Tita's journey and uses her love for food and waterfall of tears to create a suspensful mood. In the novel, "LIke Water for Chocolate" the author utalizes various symbols like tears and food to enhance the purpose of feminism throughout the story. Marigolds by Eugenia Collier is about a woman named Lizabeth looking back on her past, specifically the moment and things leading up to when she became an adult. “Chaotic emotions of youth” as she calls it are what really lead to the main event and are caused from confusion. They had nothing else besides corn planting so it is uncertain what they are going to do with their lives now that their son is dead.
