I strolled over and sat on the couch. Pepper swished by my feet with her old rough ball. Bo, the old dog, was not enjoying her being here. Bo walked up by my room, Pepper ran over and snapped at him. Bo ran away so fast you didn’t even see him. Finally, she came over and sat by my feet whining. “What do you want?” I asked. She ran by the food bowl, “No, you can’t eat, it’s not time yet,” I said. So, to distract her from food, I got up and grabbed the hairy old ball that had been worn to nothing. I tossed it across the room, she ran with all her might to get that ball. She dropped the ball and went to get one of her new toys, could you blame her? I was so excited to have my own dog, Pepper is now two years old, but still going like the frisky puppy she was! I walked out into the paddock and grabbed Gumby. He looked at me with his gleaming eyes and followed me out. We walked under the hazy sky and heard the birds screeching, stamping hooves, and the whistling of the barn hands as they mucked out stalls. I trudged by the piney smelling trees and into the musty tack room. I grabbed a scratchy coarse brush and started grooming his thick fluffy coat. His coat was dazzling when I was done. Gumby was my favorite horse and still is, I ride him any time I get the chance, and I’m glad I got the chance to try him
