Florida Tech is the perfect place for me to study biomedical engineering given the school’s focus on STEM. The location of Florida Tech and the climate of the region is purely a bonus! I chose biomedical engineering as my major because I want to make a difference in the world. Whether it be small-scale or large-scale, when it is my time I want to be able to say that I have made a lasting impact in at least one person’s life. As a result, I chose to double major in Biomedical Science and Global Health. I know these majors will prepare me for a career in the medical field. I hope to continue to thrive at ASU in these programs. As an undergraduate at ASU, I hope to continue doing meaningful research.
As a student, I’ve always strived to actively participate in my school as much as possible. This all started in middle school when I chose to participate in ASB leadership, track, football, and basketball. I feel that my motives to take on as many tasks as possible stemmed from the strong encouragement from my parents. My dad never attended college, and my mom only attended for a short period of time, and as a result of this, neither were able to obtain their ideal career path. Due to this, my parents constantly reminded me as I grew up about the importance of doing well in school and becoming the first in the family to earn a college degree.
I am an active member in a wide variety of activities. I am very involved in 4-H and FFA. Through these clubs, I have participated in many community service projects. I work hard in the classroom and I’m very goal driven. I have a 3.14 GPA, and I strive to do better each and every day.
I would like to be a general practitioner doctor, and I am going to make it happen by doing well at Elon, doing the Duke Star Program, and going to Medical School. I will do well at Elon by working as hard as I can, and applying myself every day. I will try to learn as much as I can from my professors so I can prepare myself to the best of my ability for the things that I will do later in my career. I am going to use the Duke Star program to get there because clinical research is a very important part of the medical field. While I am currently looking at going in to medicine to be a general practitioner I have not ruled out doing medical research.
After spending much of my time with doctors and surgeons, I have decided to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant. Upon graduating from Indiana Tech, I plan to attend graduate school to obtain a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies. There I will obtain the skills needed to pass the certification exam. In this career, I'll have the opportunity to give examinations, diagnoses, and treat patients under a licensed physician.
Pathologist’s assistants (PA) play a crucial role in the diagnoses of patients, as they are the eyes of the pathologist. These skilled professionals provide the hidden connection between a patient’s pre- and post-diagnosis life, and it must not be understated how much professional trust and confidence a pathologist places in their PAs to best serve patients. After being introduced and experiencing this relatively unknown and underappreciated profession first-hand, it is my life goal to become a PA and share my passion with others. When I began my shadowing experience at the Akron Cleveland Clinic, I was asked how many hours I needed to reach my requirements for graduate programs.
Everyday someone is saved by a doctor and it 's an exciting miracle. Why not be able to bring that feeling home with you? Medical TV shows have really hit the jackpot by harnessing that emotion of excitement, empathy, rage, and grief as they made this hot new genera. Some medical show’s are not realistic nor believable. Others, like the up and coming medical show “Heartbeat” is based on the life of a real person.
I dream of becoming a leader in the medical profession. In speaking with alumni and current faculty, I discovered that Rutgers has an outstanding reputation for providing academic excellence, and would provide a good match for my career goals. This university will provide a continuance of the solid foundation program which I have excelled in at Central Jersey College Prep Charter School. Your long history of preparing future doctors supports a proud legacy of successful and engaged alumni. I am interested in your 7-8 year program which involves research and transformative learning through hands-on evidence-based care and instruction.
I will never forget the day that a research proposal for a renowned cardiologist examining adult congenital heart disease came across my desk for review and submission. Momentarily, I paused as I checked the budget for mathematical accuracy and contemplated how, if awarded, this research would impact my own son who was born with two heart defects. Moving me to tears, this was the defining moment that solidified my purpose as a research administrator. My passion for this field stems from my intrinsic motivation to help make the world a better place; I recognize that my service to scientists, doctors, and engineers allows them to focus on innovative and break-through technologies that change, improve, and even save lives.
One of my areas of interest is specialty training in Cardiology. Issues like hypertension and heart failure are commonplace among many patients, and there is an increase in these conditions with age. To get a better understanding of the field, I had an opportunity to discuss this field with PA Lale, who has worked in the Electrophysiology Section Division of Cardiology at the University of xxx for over 25 years. I learned a lot about the challenges that PAs face, along with the opportunities available to them.
