One of the key representative bodies that is relevant to me in my role is the Care Quality Commission (CQC) which is the independent regulator for assessing the levels and quality of care that is being provided within the health and social care sector. The CQC make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and they encourage care services to improve if the level of care is not at the expected standards. They "set out what good and outstanding care looks like" and they make sure services meet the standards of the care do not fall below those levels. Although in my role I am not clinical, I am still regularly dealing with confidential patient information and the CQC want to ensure that I am following all of the procedures when handling this information such as the strict information governance policy, which ensures that any information I come across must be dealt with with absolute discretion and confidentiality to preserve the patients' best interests and the CQC work to ensure that we respect their dignity and privacy as much as possible. The CQC are also there to ensure that the patients are being spoken to politely and with respect, as it is all part of the care that the organisation provides to make the patients feel welcome, comfortable and most importantly cared for.

They represent full-time and part-time staff who work in the public sector and provide public services. Their responsibilities include representing and acting on behalf of members that work in a range of public services. They represent members from all kinds of careers and negotiate and try to bargain on their behalf, and they also campaign for better working conditions and pay and for those that work in public services. Campaigning is another method they use to spread awareness about issues in the workplace and fight for employment rights across all of the public sectors. In terms of how a trade union such as UNISON could affect me in my role, it is very important to note that they look out for people in the public sector and fight for their employment rights such as their pay and working hours, therefore if I was part of a trade union such as this they would fight for me if anything was to be questioned regarding the technicalities of my employment or my
