“If it helped you get your music off the ground, I'm glad you done it.” Carl Perkins was a 20th century musician who sang rockabilly music. He wrote and sang many songs that other artists liked and recorded. Carl Perkins pioneered rockabilly music, wrote many songs that people could relate to, and was in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame making him one of the greatest rockabilly artists of the 20th century.
Carl Perkins was inspired by the people around him as a kid. A sharecropper`s way of playing and Grand Ole Opry were two of Carl`s inspirations as a kid (Carlin, 2006). Because Carl listened to so much music, he started liking it more and more. These also could`ve been how he became interested in music.
Carl became interested in music because it was always around him. When Carl was a little boy, his father was always listening to music so Carl became very interested in it (Carlin, 2006). From a young age Carl was always hearing music around him which probably led him to become a musician.

Due to a sleepy driver, in 1956, the three brothers got in a car crash while on their way to New York to be on Perry Cosmo`s Tv show. All of them were injured (Talevski, 2018). Carl left the crash with a fractured skull and neck, and Jay was badly injured (Talevski, 2018). He struggled making new songs and albums after the car crash (Larkin, 2002). In 1958, Carl and his brother Clayton resorted to alcohol after their brother Jay died of a brain tumor (Carlin, 2006). Carl and his brothers could have died in an accident but they luckily survived. He also put his life in danger and started drinking after his brothers death. After all this he was still well
