Canada Goose Inc. was established in Canada in 1957 by a Polish immigrant, and originally named Metro Sportswear Ltd. (Lorinc, 2012). Under it's founder, Sam Tick, the company produced functional woollen outerwear, including snowmobile suits, before switching to down-filled jackets in the 70s. David Reiss, Tick's son-in-law, joined the company at this time. He would go on to become CEO in the 80s. Until then, the company focused on providing custom down-filled coats and parkas to Canadian Rangers, city and provincial police, and municipal workers.
