On May 14, 2015, Fannie Mae announced the Green Rewards program. This program provides owners of multifamily apartment buildings and cooperate owners access to extra loans. The loans will be used to help owners invest in energy-and water -cost savings improvements. Owners who qualify for Green Rewards would be able to loan with Fannie Mae at a lower interest rate; the rate will be reduced by 10 basis points over the course of a 10 year loan (Dosberg, 2015). The loans would be used to reconstruct the facilities and make the use of energy and water more efficient.
