IDEA OR PRACTICE BEING USED: The district worked collaboratively with teachers to develop personalized learning for all educators to help with using new technology in their classroom. Educators were given an opportunity to teach learning sessions about something they feel they do well or choose learning sessions relevant to where they were with the ease of using technology using the SAMR model. Teachers could also create a TEPS project that involves exploring an educational project that can improve the classroom, and they earn graduate hours. This method has an expert teach employees a new knowledge in classroom. Sometimes, employees need to learn something new that just come into companies. It helps employees to understand how to use it, apply it in the jobs and increase their abilities. For example, in the accounting department, when the government launch the new program to calculate the account, a supervisor must allow some employees train this method and apply in their department.
Northwestern’s Problem Based Learning (PBL) curriculum is the primary factor influencing my decision to apply to the PA Program. I strongly believe that a PBL-centered format is the optimal way for me to learn how to practice medicine. Although many PA programs have adopted the PBL system, Northwestern is uniquely equipped to supplement its curriculum with resources such as the Simulation Technology and Immersive Learning Center (STIL Center). The second educational technology business to be used in this multi-case study is, Summit Learning. Summit Learning is a developing free online personalized tool that allows students in grades 6 to 12 to set and track customized learning goals. The Summit Learning Platform was an evolved idea of Summit Public Schools, conceived by Dian Tavenner in 2012. Tavenner, who is the founder and CEO of Summit Public School, a charter management organization (CMO) in California and Washington State, decided to move all schools under the CMO to a student-centric model. As leaders of Summit Schools attempted to put together personalized learning software to support Tavenner’s proposed learning design, they quickly found the process to be difficult.
This situation presented an unresolved conflict between myself and the vice principal in my clinical placement. This conflict can be linked with the nursing concepts of interprofessional collaboration and communication, role clarification, and power. Therefore, it is understandable that nursing students working within an interprofessional team that does not demonstrate respect and understanding will result to ineffective care, health promotion delivery, and impede professional development. Interprofessional collaboration amongst health and non-health professionals is integral in optimizing health outcomes and promoting health.

Student-directed learning will keep students motivated and teaches them to cooperate with each other sharing responsibilities and functions within their community. My experience with co-teaching has been beneficial for my class especially for the ELLs and the monolingual students. When my mentor is teaching, my lowest students sit in a different table with me. Differentiation has helped them because they get additional help, clarification of any misconceptions, restating of key vocabulary or key points and also they get to use manipulatives that might help them understand a concept better. This differentiation has helped as they are testing higher in math and two ELL students are now reading at grade level. Co-teaching allows both teachers to work together and it allows for many instructional strategies.
