Recently I have discovered the novel Catch a Falling Star by Kim Culbertson. This novel is a charming love story that holds new beginnings for Adam Jakes, movie star, and Carter Moon, small town girl. Carter Moon has a big passion for astrology and the comfort of her hometown, but not too much of Hollywood. Carter has two best friends, who happen to be dating, Chloe and Alien Drake. Although her best friend Chloe, has an obsession over any celebrity, including Adam Jakes. Adam Jakes is a famous movie star in Hollywood, and any normal teen, unlike Carter, would be drooling over him. “At a small turn of the path, we came to a fountain under a trellis flowering with fuchsia blooms. Adam laced his fingers with mine, sending a warm jolt through me.” (Culbertson 87) Adam once again proves to Carter how sweet, caring, and compassionate he can be towards her; which makes her melt at his feet even more. “You look gorgeous in it…” (Culbertson 193) It is important to always treat your partner with love and respect. In this novel, Adam repetivity ensures that Carter is content and reminds her how beautiful she is. Adam is the definition of what all girls want, and Carter know that. “He was supposed to be a jerk, a reckless Hollywood creep, and he had been, he was at first, but then he wasn’t.” (Culbertson 223) At this point, Carter felt so vulnerable to him. Although, she feels as he had someone mistreated her trust by the rumors being spreaded in the magazines. Carter didn’t know what or who to believe.
