Everyone has heard about drinking and driving and how it will affect your life. You also get told over and over again that you could get in a wreck. Have you ever, though, been told about how the lives of others are affected by people who drink and drive?
Alcohol reduces the function of the brain. This impairs your judgment, and muscle coordination. Alcohol gets absorbed straight through the walls of the stomach and small intestine. It accumulates in the bloodstream and sits there until metabolized by the liver

There are about 28 people in the United States that die everyday in an alcohol related crash. The chance of being in an alcohol-impaired crash is about one in three. That is quite a bit. There were 1,794 killed in

Utah Department of Public Safety says that you must not drive with any alcohol in your system
(“DUI FAQs”). This is also known as an “Alcohol Restricted” driving privilege.
The next percentages are where it becomes more serious. At .08% your muscle coordination becomes poor. At .10% you have clear deterioration of reaction time and slurred speech. At .15% there are effects of vomiting and major loss of balance (“Drunk Driving”).
After watching the “Lives Affected” video you can see what drunk driving can do to other people. It is devastating to see the affects it has on others. There was one couple who was driving with their two kids to meet up with the wife’s mom and dad. On the way there, they were hit by a drunk driver. Their 4 month old baby was killed in this accident. There was another family who was on their way home and they were also hit by a drunk driver. The husband lost his wife, unborn baby, little girl, and his little boy (“MADD”).
