¨Long-term overconsumption of alcohol causes death of brain cells, which can lead to brain disorders as well as a lowered level of mental or physical function.¨ (Patterson) People who have consumed excessive amounts of alcohol no longer have basic control and functionality of their mind and body. ¨Alcohol dependence, or alcoholism, occurs when the body cannot function without alcohol. Alcohol affects certain neurotransmitters in the brain. When the brain becomes accustomed to the way that alcohol affects these brain chemicals, it can no longer send proper signals to the rest of the body without the presence of alcohol.¨ (Patterson) Once someone has developed a dependence on alcohol, he or she will continue to drink regardless of any serious physical symptoms caused by alcohol.
Even though teens and young adults consume alcohol does not mean that it is a right thing to do, it can be dangerous and harmful to your body. To clarify, alcohol drinking can interfere with the development of the young adult brain. With that being said it can interfere with controlling anger, fear, and your happiness. The more permanent effects can be memory loss and weakness in your muscles and bones. In fact, lowering the drinking age would let more use of illegal drugs.
Society has left an invisible impact on how we perceive the college lifestyle as a whole. This ranges from the belief that all students are sleep deprived from staying up too late to finish their homework. Also the sociological acceptance that college is the place to party and drink every single weekend. Theirs a sociological point of view and how society has played a key part in underage drinking being accepted in college towns. Not just limited to the effects of alcohol on a student’s wellbeing; also, the short term and long term conditions that can arise from binge drinking.

Colleges should enforce underage drinking laws on and around their campus because binge drinking has many consequences. Parents will be satisfied with this decision. They will then know what their child is doing while they are away in college and whether their child has a drinking habit or not. Most importantly, this will affect the college the student is attending because the administrators can make a change to help the students. Administrators can propose a policy about being caught drinking underage.

In only 4 states you can drink when your under the age, besides that the other states you can get into trouble for it. (Teen drinking) So if you see anyone drinking at any age under 21 tell them to stop and im about to tell you why. You always hear as you grow up i just got a “sip” of my dad or mom’s beer when they had friends over, but let me tell you something that one sip can lead to more and more as you grow up.
Drugs such as alcohol have an effect on all users, regardless of their age; however, alcohol has an especially harmful effect on teens since their bodies are still developing. Studies have shown that alcohol has numerous negative effects on a teen’s body and mental health; for example, a study conducted by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention stated that “alcohol consumption affects the brain’s frontal lobes, which is essential for functions such as emotional regulations, planning, and organization” (“Age”). Teens already have high emotions and difficulties planning and organizing; alcohol will only enhance teens’ struggle. The Center of Disease Control and Prevention also found that alcohol consumption at a young age can potentially cause chronic problems such as memory loss, depression, suicidal thoughts, and poor decision making (“Age”). Teens have a difficult enough time making decisions and organizing their lives, but adding alcohol to the mix will only make matters worse; their bodies are still developing, and they are still learning to be adults.
This graduation party season many parents will be arrested for something they didn’t know was going on - underage drinking. There are laws called Social Host Laws that say parents are responsible for what goes on even if they don’t know what's happening. Underage drinking is one of the main things that get parents into trouble with the law. During parties, it's extremely difficult to control large numbers of teens. My controversial topic regarding underage drinking in Wisconsin can be broken down into four components of why I am against it. As you can tell by my introductory statement, underage adults should not be able to drink alcohol with their parents. My reasoning for this statement can be broken down into four statements. First, the basic biological anatomy of the brain of an underage child, does not fully develop until the age of 25.
Today in the United States about 4,358 people under the age of 21 years old die each year from alcohol-related car crashes, homicides, suicides, alcohol poisoning, and other injuries such as falls, burns, and even drowning. More than 190,000 people under the age of 21 visited an emergency room for alcohol related reasons in 2008 alone. Alcohol related motor vehicle crashes kill someone every 31 minutes and non-fatally injure someone every two minutes. That’s a lot of people gone because they wanted to go out and party and not think about the consequences ahead. In this essay I’m gonna give you information to why Underage Drinking is very very bad for you.
Underage drinking is a noteworthy issue at American schools, however little is thought about the degree of liquor use in various arrangements. Across countries, Teenage drinking has been a common problem of this modern world. Teens and drinking have been an issue for some time and it continues to persist, attracting many young individuals. Whether it’s the pleasure or the ability to forget problems drinking as a teen has become a problem in society with many alcohol related issues. However, that sensation of being able to forget problems soon enters a cycle of many other issues such as consequences to the physical development and to the body itself, which is not able to handle the alcohol properly. In addition, soon the early admission of the depressant becomes and an addictive factor which can lead to alcoholism since the body constantly craves the substance. Teens and drinking has continued to progress over the years and the depressant has consumed many lives.
