Alcohol on college campuses has been a controversial issue for many years concerning the help and safety. The trend of “binge drinking” has been the causes on many incidents on college campuses. Binge drinking is consuming a large quantity of alcohol in a short period of time. The effects of binge drinking can be from minimal to dangerous. Colleges nationwide should regulate and limit the amount of alcohol sold on campus or in the near vicinity to better create a safer and healthier college campus.
Drinking has long been an activity to anticipate when you go to college. A lot of students want to experience the parties and other social events that the college may have. Some students drink before parties in order for them to be more relaxed or in a better mood for partying. Drinking has not only become a trend, but for some, it has become a basic daily routine. In a way, the issue is almost out of the college’s control and their habit of binge drinking has stuck. Not only has the habit stuck, but it is more probable for the habit of binge drinking will increase in college. The expectation of college, besides getting an education, is going to parties, get drunk, and have fun. Many students use the opportunity of being more independent to drink more than they could in high school or with their parents. Binge drinking in college usually happen before or during parties in order to loosen up and have more fun at the parties.
