When one contemplates the credibility of the CDC, it is important to know who they are and where they come from. The CDC operates under the oversight of the HSS, as stated earlier. Guttman, Boccher-Lattimore, & Salmon (1998) found that the CDC, along with the Surgeon General, maintains a higher credibility rating than state-run and funded entities. It is also stated that, “Source credibility is a cornerstone of any successful information campaign” (Guttman et al., 1998, para. 4). When one accounts for these statements, the importance of credibility, as well as the credibility that the CDC has, one can view the CDC’s document as supporting the presence of ethos.
Introduction In the book “The Hot Zone” by Richard Preston (1995), Preston (1995) talks about Ebola, a killer disease that originally broke out in Central Africa. Preston (1995) talks about three main concerns that the public should have about Ebola. One concern is the biohazard safety levels, the second worry are the symptoms that people experience day to day and the third one is identifying the virus correctly. Biohazard Safety Level Biohazard Safety Levels are very important from the CDC protecting the world population from small diseases such as HIV; to the worst of the worst like Ebola.
"Healthy People 2020 (HP2020) provides a comprehensive set of 10-year, national goals and objectives for improving the health of all Americans" ("Healthy People 2020", 2015, p. 2). It monitors and evaluates whether the goals of improving health indicators are met or getting worse. Community health problems should be analyzed in order to comprehend and effectively resolve the problem ("Analyzing Community Problems", 2015). Levels of prevention are phases wherein healthcare professionals can intervene in the health of individuals and communities. Primary prevention involves seeking ways to prevent a person from having a disease they can be prone to.
Ebola, despite being discovered in the 1970s, was still mysterious at the time of this big outbreak. The symptoms of Ebola includes internal and external bleeding, vomiting blood, Headache, difficulty breathing, and lack of appetite. Because we had no knowledge and preparation on Ebola, the virus was spread between others in a massive scale. At one point during the outbreak, a deadly strain of Ebola hit Zaire, erupting simultaneously in some 50 villages, killed nine out of ten people it infected. Zaire's president, Mobutu Sese Seko, called out his army to seal the Kinshasa hospital and the entire zone of infected villages, with orders to shoot anyone trying to come out.
The number and the capacity of the laboratories should also be increased, there should also be an increase in the amount of money spent in technological research. The government should also prioritize the restructuring, reorganizing and decentralization of the health facility systems which had been neglected for years (Hwang, 2007). When it comes to the list of governmental agencies which the average American has a general understanding of their purpose, the CDC is among the top on that list. The central mission of promoting the health of Americans by means of prevention and also education on health topics along with the constant media coverage has lead to the CDC being seen as one of the foremost authorities on health matters. So it is no surprise that the CDC has taken to the task of educating the public on the issue of ADHD as seen with their hosted page on the issue. Ultimately the CDC uses ethos, pathos, and logos in order to accomplish their goal of educating the public on ADHD.
Evi Hernandez has 18 years of work experience in the field of public health, with 12 of those years working within the non-profit sector at the California Health Collaborative (CHC). His experience in the public health sector has been primarily in the areas of tobacco control, alcohol and other drug prevention, teen pregnancy prevention, youth development, and the prevention and management of chronic diseases. He currently serves as the Director of Program Services for CHC. He is affiliated with various health initiatives and community service/volunteer organizations throughout California.
So individuals aren't made clean about how Ebola spreads and how they can expand their capacity to survive a worldwide pandemic. All the misleading information being spread about Ebola by the U.S. government and the conniving broad communications will tragically exacerbate the Ebola pandemic far. That is on the grounds that people in general isn't being come clean about how Ebola spreads and how people can forestall transmission of the sickness. Carney, T. J., & Weber, D. J. (2015).
For most of ‘us’, western people, the Ebola outbreak is something that happened in the past. For the people living in the centre of the outbreak, there is no ending to the disaster. Many of them have lost more than one family member, and some might still deal with sickness. The disaster will be in their memory forever. People who are infected by the virus, are placed into quarantine.
The article I chose to review is “Ebola hemorrhagic fever outbreaks: strategies for effective epidemic management, containment and control”, written by Gerard Matua, Dirk Van der Wal, and Rozzano Locsin. The main point of the article is to discuss the current strategies being used to control Ebola epidemics and provide recommendations for new methods that may improve containment times. The article distinguishes between “reactive” approaches, and “pre-emptive” strategies, reactive approaches being the ones that are most commonly utilized in cases of outbreaks. The authors argue that pre-emptive strategies would decrease the need for reactive approaches by decreasing the overall threat and impact of the epidemic in the first place. The key question

This organization makes people aware about the need of healthy life in rural areas as well as the areas which are most prone to epidemics.
It provides an HIV prevention strategy to promote awareness, STI diagnosis treatment, behavior change and condom use protection. CDC has supported implementing and establishing a sentinel surveillance network. According to CDC, the Social Security Fund of Costa Rica designated heath professionals to be in charge of the sentinel surveillance for influenza and other respiratory viruses, which has led to the development of 28 accredited healthcare workers and basic laboratory equipment to help with severe acute respiratory infections and sickness due to influenza. Rendering from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, IEIP (International Emerging Infections Program in Central America) it has been developing a central mission to assure rapid and effective response to emerging infectious disease threats by strengthening the capacity of the Ministries of Health to identify emerging infections to help prevent, control, and treat them.
