2.1 Mission An organization’s mission statement establishes the firm’s purpose, values, and goals. Mission statements support successful operations by guiding an organization’s direction. Additionally, mission statements inform potential consumers and stakeholders how an organization does business (King, Case, & Premo, 2011). As a result, organizations must carefully select a mission statement that aligns with their vision, values, and goals. In fact, Cemex produces cement, ready-mix concrete, aggregates, related products, building solutions, and services. Products that construction companies need vast amounts of to complete their building projects. Equally important, predictions for continued strength in the construction industry indicate that additional growth for the cement industry. As a result, there is a United States market for Cemex’s products and services.
Considering the forecasts growth for the construction and cement industries, it is important to note that Cemex is capable of meeting the United States construction companies’ production volume. Cemex is one of the largest producers of cement, ready-mix concrete, aggregates. In fact, the firm has annual sales of $13.4 Billion and a production capacity of 93 million tons of cement, 52 million tons of concrete, and 151 million tons of aggregates (Cemex.com, 2016). Additionally, the firm’s United States network includes 11 cement plants, more than 50 distribution centers, 50 aggregate quarries, and nearly 270 ready-mix concrete plants.
