They first showed up in Greek mythology where they were a part of many stories. One story that is very common about centaurs is the story that didn’t portray the usual traits of centaurs. It is the story about Chiron. Chiron was a wise immortal centaur who tutored many gods. One day, one of his students Hercules came to the cave that Chiron and some other centaurs lived in. They decided to open some wine to drink and the smell of the wine caused unwanted centaurs to come to the cave. The unwanted centaurs attacked them to get the wine, to stop the centaurs Hercules pulled out his bow and his poisoned arrows and began to shoot them at all the unwanted centaurs. While Hercules was shooting the unwanted centaurs with his poison arrows he mistakenly hit Chiron. The poison from the arrow caused Chiron excruciating pain.
