Lymphoma: Cervical
Lymphoma is a cancer that attacks the white blood cells in the immune system (WebMD, 2005). Lymphoma is also the causes of cancerous lymph nodes (Zimmermann, 2015). There are several types of lymphoma that form, and it can be treatable and even cured (American Cancer Society, 2015). This type of disease affects around 156,420 people per year in the United States (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1975). There are two main types of lymphoma: Non-Hodgkin and Hodgkin disease (Rueben, 1998).
Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is the most common type of cancer and under this cancer are different subtypes of cancer (Rueben, 1998). A subtype of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is cervical lymphoma, which is located in the throat and neck (Leukemia & Lymphoma

First, they evaluate the family history next doctors will take clinical exams, after that patients get a tuberculin test, and blood tests. Many of the screening involve a lot of tests and a chest x-ray (Tropical Medicine Departments, Faculty of Medicine, Aim Shams University, 1998). Unfortunately, Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cannot be detected early; however, scientists are working on screening on cervical lymphoma (MD Anderson Center, N.D.).
Lymphoma is a very broad cancer and the location can be in multiple places; therefore, it is not as easy to create a diagnosis of cervical lymphoma as it would be for any other cancer (Johnston, April 1999). The most effective way to determine cervical lymphoma is to do a biopsy; a biopsy is a removal of the body’s tissue to screen for any types of diseases (Rueben, 1998). Next, the patient would take a clinical exam, x-rays, and other tests (Johnston, April 1999). Once again, because it has various ways to form, there are various ways to check for cervical lymphoma (Johnston, April 1999). After a biopsy is performed, the doctor will check to see what stage the patient is currently undergoing (Johnston, April
