Chapter twelve in Genesis clearly states the covenant and its details that were discussed between Abraham and God. Paul knows that the covenant is about obeying Jesus and God, and Paul believes that the covenant is really between God and Jesus. John believes that the covenant is about the jews. John also believes that the covenant between Abraham and God includes the whole world, and anyone who obeys god and has love for him is apart of the covenant.
In Judaism, the Jewish believe that Abraham is the father of the jews and that through him and his descendants a covenant would be passed down for future generation of jew for their righteousness. Paul is under the interpretation that Abraham's covenant with god is misleading because it is really between Jesus and God and not god and Abraham. when paul returned to Abria it is said that he is trying to persuade all of the jews to get circumcised because god wants them to be circumcised, but Paul believes that god accepts people for who they are, henceforth god would not make people get circumcised because he accepts them the way that they are. According to paul god put every different part of the body, just as he wanted it to be ( good news bible, 1 Corinthians 12: 18 ) Paul didn't believe in seeking circumcision or uncircumcision because god accepted everyone as is. Paul said that “ true circumcision was spiritual, not literal ” ( romans 2: 29) Paul did believe anyone who promoted circumcision was a false prophet. Circumcision is a sign that appears on the male descendants of the covenant, so not getting circumcised means that they were not following the rules of the covenant. Paul is trying to get all the jews to get circumcised because when he returned to Abria peter and the Gentiles were all mixing as jews and jews were mixing as Gentiles.
