The StoryCorps’ 476th podcast episode titled “Mrs. Yetta Bronstein for President”, is about pranking the media and causing a bit on mayhem in an otherwise often very serious business. Jeanne and Alan Abel are the prankster masterminds behind the 1964 and 1968 presidential campaign of Yetta Bronstein, the fictional write-in candidate for “The Best Party”. The ruse was set up to prank and mislead the media with Jeanne voicing the single New York mother who stood for values such as putting guns in every household but decreasing the bullet velocity by 95% and taking Congress of salary to put them on strict commission. The way the interview and story is told helps solidify the impression that Jeanne and Alan made pranking the media and embarrassing

In the book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell uses the persuasive techniques such as figurative language, rhetorical questions, and analogies to persuade readers that the American view of success is wrong, and that success is the product of opportunities, hidden advantages, and hard work. In Chapter Two, these techniques are used to describe his idea of “The 10,000-Hour Rule” - that belief it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert at something. Gladwell’s basis for the 10,000-hour rule is that people who are experts in their field became so good from hidden and rare opportunities that allowed them to practice their skills. One example gladwell uses are The Beatles, whom Gladwell identifies as one of the most famous rock bands ever.

Remain who I am no matter what. If I am told I can’t be me because of they what the work place is, then I shouldn’t want to work for those people. The last important take away from this book is how success is never on the inside of the
Identify three techniques (for each example) that you feel most effectively persuade the audience and justify why they do so. In both the editorial from The Age, titled ‘Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull 's cowardly stance on Donald Trump shames us all’, and the letter to the editor in The Sydney Morning Herald written by David Whitcombe of Maroubra, New South Wales, the use of rhetorical questions was abundant, however, their use in each text had a different effect on the audience. The editorial uses short, blunt rhetorical questions such as ‘how?’ , ‘why?’
Big Brother is watching you! In the novel 1984, George Orwell sets up a world where the people are constantly under surveillance. Oceania is a totalitarian society run by an entity known as Big Brother and the Inner Party. It is also known for the four ministries and is ruled by fear and force everyday. Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the 2018 Festival of Dangerous Ideas. I am here today to examine whether the greatest threat to civilisation is humanity itself? I strongly believe that, humanity is most definitely the greatest threat to civilisation. While Lord of the Flies was first published in 1954 by William Golding as a response to the rise of Nazism and after the horrors of human evil witnessed during World War II, it still speaks directly to our world today in 2018 where nations and world leaders such as Xi Jinping, Kim Jon Un and Vladimir Putin continue to fight for world domination because of their greed for power.
After their much-celebrated announcement that they’re having their first baby, A-lister couple Chrissy Teigen and John Legend were seen having the happiest scare of their life at the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride on Friday. The soon-to-be-mother was evidently enjoying her night with her husband and some of their famous friends like Jessica Alba, Cash Warren, celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin and many more. The pair braved the popular Southern California attraction and has never been afraid of the experience, according to E!

The point of view bought forth by the author(s) of the advertisement is one, which views child labour as something, which deserves to be looked highly upon. Using a serene yet unconcerned tone, this advertisement attempts to persuade its viewers to support Child Labour. This advertisement is one that appeared on the ABC’s program “The Gruen Transfer.” The advertisement is a fragment of a segment where advertising agencies attempt to “sell the unsellable’.
Persuasion is an extremely powerful form of non-compulsory communication, so strong in fact, using persuasion can give a person the ablitity to transform the mind for an enduring effect on attitudes and actions. In order to understand persuasion and how it differs from other forms of social influences, we must first understand the arena of social influence and how they simultaneously work together. Good evening. Citizens of this breathtaking country and beyond. During the past 57 days, the Germans have had the audacity to turn 60% of our city: London, England to ruins. With this we find deep anger and astonishment that a leader would be willing to kill innocent civilians in attempt to gain power. During this time we will stand against their fascist ideas and not react to their terrorism.
PRINCIPLES OF PERSUASION The six Principles of Persuasion are Reciprocity, Scarcity, Authority, Commitment and Consistency, Consensus and Liking. We perform these tasks everyday and don’t even realize it. Principles of Persuasion are built into communication and are used in the home as well as on the job. The example I chose was when my cousin came to visit from Phoenix Arizona.
Social promotion is the practice of passing students along from grade to grade with their peers even if the students have not satisfied academic requirements or met performance standards at key grades. Many people think that this wrong but I disagree with that because many kids that held back either drop out of school, are being bullyed and even have insecurity problems. These problems all can be avoid by just one simple action Social promotion. Most states that don’t believe in social promotion have a high dropout rate and this is because once a kid gets held back they start to lack in school and start not to care any more once they get retained. Once kids drop out of school they have basicly gave have half of there life up cause education is the key to success and kids dropping out is not a good at all.
