Atticus is a lawyer in a county called Maycomb that has two kids name scout and Jem. Atticus is defending a black man named Tom Robinson that is accused of rape in court. Atticus is put under a lot of pressure through the story dealing with this rape issue. Throughout the novel To Kill A Mockingbird Atticus present himself responsible,leader,wise. He is responsible in this novel because after his wife die he raise two kids by himself and provide food and shelter for them.

When Atticus says that the Klan is gone, he is incorrect because although there may not be any official “Ku Klux Klan,” there will always be people whose ideas about races differ from the ones around them, and sooner or later, they will start to band together and form something similar to the Ku Klux Klan. For example, when Atticus was at the jail, a mob of drunken men had come in order to kill Tom Robinson before his trial. This mob could represent ideas similar to the Ku Klux Klan at that time. Scout is a young tomboy from Maycomb, Alabama living during the Great Depression. To Kill A Mockingbird Literary Analysis Throughout To Kill A MockingBird, by Harper Lee there are many acts of courage. This is shown in Atticus Finch, Jem Finch, and Boo Radley. Atticus shows the most courage in the book but all three of these characters show true courage in some way, shape, or form. Boo Radley showed a lot of courage, but he was not in the storyline as much as Atticus. Throughout To Kill A Mockingbird, courage is defined as standing up for people and doing what’s right.
Chapter ten of To Kill a Mockingbird begins as Jem and Scout think that Atticus is old and he cannot do anything. They say he does not play or do cool things that other parents do. He just works in an office. One day, Jem and Scout go out with their guns after Atticus refuses to teach them. Atticus says the only thing they cannot shoot is a mockingbird because it does not harm the people; it only sings for them.
In chapter 11 Mrs.Dubose an old sick lady who always sits on the porch of her house one day told Jem and Scout that Atticus isn’t any better than “the “niggers and trash he works for,” and Jem loses his temper. Thus Jem takes Scout baton which he bought for her and destroys Mrs.Dubose’s camellia bushes. When Atticus found out as punishment Mrs.Dubose told Jem must go to her house every day for a month and read to her and Atticus agreed. Scout comes along with Jem everyday and each session they are reading it gets longer. Mrs. Dubose dies a little more than a month after.
In the passage Jem and Scout walk home during the dark hours,giving Bob Ewell an opportunity to stage an attack. As Bob Ewell attacks them Boo Radley rushes in to rescue Jem and Scout. After this Scout now understands what Atticus meant it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. The killing of a mockingbird is much like killing the innocent. It is beyond a crime and worse than the most heinous atrocities.
In chapter 12, Jem hits the middle school years and he's moody for no reason. Scout asks Atticus what's wrong with Jem and if she can fix it by beating him up, but they say she should leave him alone. Then to add to all of this, Atticus gets called into a special session and is away for two weeks. While Atticus away, Calpurnia doesn't trust Jem and Scout to go to church by themselves, and decides to take them with her to her church. Calpurnia makes sure the kids look clean the night before so no one thinks that she does not care for her children.
In chapter 15, a mob, led by, Heck Tate, come to Atticus’s house. Tom Robinson is to be moved to Maycomb jail. The next day, at night, Jem, Dill and Scout sneak to the town center. A group of men gets out and demand Atticus to go away, Atticus refuses and Scout gets very angry and run towards the men, realizing that they are not the same people as last night. Atticus orders the kids to leave, but they refuse.
