Chapter Ten Textbook Presentation Evaluation I was presenting Chapter 10 Standards, Curriculum, and Accountability with Sam Byrnes and Madison Shetrom on Tuesday November the seventh. As we prepared for the group presentation, everyone in the group had to read the chapter and take notes on what was important to talk about from the textbook. Reading, analyzing, and discussing the chapter was enriching in order to understand the material better as well as to create an environment in which we could teach the information form the textbook to the rest of the class. All group members participated and were engaged in the entire presentation, and everyone was supportive of the group work. Our main focus was to divide the work equally so everyone had an equal impact on the presentation. I was in charge of the following sections: Common Core Standards including The Intent of the Common Core Standards, Organizing the Standards including Table 10.2, What is Curriculum?, Characteristics of Curriculum, and Axiom one through ten. Further, I created the worksheet for the class to take notes for the slides. In class, it was important to articulate the important aspects of the chapter to the rest of the class, in an interesting way. We agreed, that we would talk about the chapter supported by a PowerPoint and then talk about the axioms, which are mentioned in the book. It was important for us to create an equal setting of lecture and group activities. My role, during the presentation, was to present the parts of the chapter that I focused mostly on as well as to explain the axioms to the individual groups in order for the students to come to a better understanding of the material that was handed out to them. Further, as we discussed the axioms in-class, it was important to engage the students in the material by bringing examples from the students. By encouraging the students to answer these questions, we created an enriching environment for teaching and learning, which was different from a normal presentation.
