Character Differences Between Book And Movie

The main character in this book reacted to the situation pretty similar to the main character in the movie. They both also acted really different, though. The situations they were in were also really different. But there still were some huge similarities in how they acted and dealt with the problems they were facing. For example, both of the main character’s parents were gone during the tragedy. In this paper, I am mostly using Sam as the main character, but sometimes I used his dad too.
The first example of a similarity is that in both the movie and the book one of the characters put family over everything. In the book, Alex body shops for food for his sisters, sends them away even though he really doesn't want to so they can be safe, and is even prepared to let them leave new york without him on a bus. In the movie, Sam’s dad risks his life going on a journey across the country to find his son and make sure he is safe, even though he knows his son is probably already dead. Another similarity is that both had to take care of others. In the book, Alex had to be the man of his family because both his parents were dead. He didn't have anyone to guide him and he didn't know they were alive like Sam did. Sam, on the other hand, called his dad before everything got bad and knew he was alive and coming to rescue him. Sam did end up being saved by his dad, whereas Alex had to provide for his family all by himself. Another difference is in the book, Alex sends his sister Bri away to a convent where she will have food and be safe. In the movie, all of the important characters except Sam’s parents stick together. Thirdly, in the movie, Sam was trying to survive and help his friends all live. In the book, Alex was with his sisters, who were the only family he had
