Characteristics Of An Ideal School

For approximately twelve years I have been in education as an educator or administrator. In the following sections I will attempt to describe my ideal school to an audience of administrators and teachers. The focus of my ideal school will be on hiring the right people, open culture, and the less is more quality of work. I believe the following characteristics of my ideal school are of most important for schools to improve teaching and learning.
Hiring The Right People
My ideal school starts with hiring the right people to be placed in the correct positions in schools. The definition of hiring the right personal starts with adding high quality educators during the interview process. Ideally all students in school should have access to high quality teachers but that is not always the case. There are times when the location of a school does not attract high quality candidates. According to research one of the best indicators of student’s success is placing learners with high quality educators. At the moment this is not occurring in schools. Thus, one major factor that needs to be updated is how teachers are compensated across the board. Educators are not paid for the amount of work that is done during and especially after hours of the school day. There must be an increase in the amount of money that educators are paid in order to attract more applicants to the occupational pool.
