Characteristics Of Ponyboy, Dally And Johnny

A hero, according to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary is “a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities”, or “one who shows courage”. Ponyboy, Dally and Johnny all showed the characteristics of a hero. Ponyboy showed courage had achievements and noble qualities, while Dally showed lots of courage and did some noble acts. Then finally Johnny showed courage and had some small achievements in his short life. They were all heros in some way or fashion from that definition.

In the book Ponyboy shows he is a hero or at least at some points in the book he is a hero. One point when Ponyboy showed he was a hero was when he saved those kids from a fire in the church he started that fire Ponyboy yelled to the school teacher “I’ll get …show more content…

He risked his life with Ponyboy to save those kids from the fire which showed courage because he risked his life and lost it from that event in the book. Johnny also showed he was a hero when he saved Ponyboy from the Socs he might of died if Johnny didn't save him even though he was forced to murder someone. So in the end Johnny risked his life and he died a hero at 16 years old.

Dally was the worst overall person in the group but he still did some noble things. When Two-bit broke some windows and the cops got called they came and arrested Dally the one who was blamed and he didn't rat Two-bit out he took the blame that was a noble act for a friend. The second thing Dally did to make him a is when he jumped in the church and risked his life to save Johnny from the fire in the church. Not only was that courageous but that was also an achievement risking your life for others. So Dally may not have been a the best person but he was a hero in some ways.

So in a way they are all really heros even if they aren't really very good people. So Ponyboy saved the kids from the church. Johnny also helped save kids and he saved Ponyboy from the Socs. And finally Dally even though he went to jail a lot and stole he still did things that matched the characteristics of a hero. So Ponyboy,Dally and Johnny could all be considered
