Do you believe in the Evolution theory? Have you ever wondered if the theory was correct or if it was just a long shot guess? Well you see, Charles Darwin introduced the theory of evolution in his influential book in 1959 the book was called On the Origin of Species. In the book natural selection was described as an analogous which means structures that are similar but do not come from the same ancestor. Natural selection is the main part of the process of evolution and it is the primary explanation for adaptive evolution. Theodosius Dobzhansky, a geneticist said “Nothing in biology makes sense, except in light of evolution” which emphasizes the role of evolution. At first living things might not seem very diverse but if you take a closer look …show more content…

Homologous structures look and function similarly and come from a common ancestor whilst analogous structures have similar functions but do not come from a common ancestor. For example, in the article it was mentioned that homologous structures that have one common ancestor are fish, reptiles, birds, and humans. They show a similar form and function in all organisms but are not completely similar. As we look into the organisms’ limbs we see that most of the animals have a humerus, radius, metacarpals and phalanges, they may look a bit different and be used a different way as well. Based on their natural adaptation and its surroundings the way it used the limb could change its modeling and give it a better way of adapting with its environment. Molecular homology is the most substantial and irrefutable evidence for common ancestry Why? This clearly shows that all living organisms on this planet are very similar at a cellular and molecular …show more content…

DNA is translated to Deoxyribonucleic acid and it consists of only 4 nitrogen bases. DNA makes up the blueprints for all characteristics in all living things, the 4 bases are Adenine, Cytosine, Guanine and thymine. Organisms like bacteria, humans and even dinosaurs have the same DNA system as a genetic code which proves another point of evidence that all life came from a single common ancestor. Species that are similar or closely related are on the phylogenetic tree of life which have their DNA sequences overlap. Technology has been improving more and more with each day passing and that has allowed scientists to not only map out an entire genome of many species but are now able to compare those maps as well. That way it is easier to see where they overlap and where the differences are. In the article it says that the “Molecular clocks” can be used to help fill in gaps that are in the fossil records and even find any missing links that are in the timeline of the history on Earth. Which proves that DNA and mutations have a big role in the Evolution
