At sunrise, the sudden movement of the sun over the horizon wakes up the sky and floods it with a warm red color. With the glowing orb of yellow now visible, the landscape of the savannah becomes noticeable with the dark shadow of few trees looking microscopic to the large sun. The scene is like a mouse to a tiger. A few wispy clouds, that are as slender as a pole, meander along the sky. As the shimmering sun continues to rise, the creatures of the savannah act as if the sunrise is an alarm clock. They all raise their heads to the ascending star and now understand the day is beginning. A group of meerkats scampers towards a pool of light and stand on their hind legs like humans. They all bathe in the sunlight as one stands right behind the other, showing they are a very tightly-knit group. The short pieces of grass tickle their legs as they admire the sunrise. A determined looking cheetah swiftly walks onto a mound of dirt and gazes into the horizon, seeming to know that today is no ordinary day. Two birds, with red throats like a turkey, slowly step through the water and pause a moment to look at each other. Something important must be happening as they take off into the sky, leaving drops of water echoing into the quiet savannah. Moments later, the birds fly across an enormous waterfall that glistens in the sunlight. Its crystal blue waters turn into a pinkish-white, like the color of salmon. The echoes of the bird calls is overshadowed by the smooth sound of gushing water. Soon, all the different creatures of the savannah are traveling to the same place, Pride Rock. Rafiki dips his human-like thumb into the melon juice and gently spreads it on a curious Simba’s brow. The bright red juice is in a crude line on his forehead. The cub smiles as the sweet, warm juice seeps through his fur. Then, Rafiki grabs a small amount of sand and drops it onto Simba’s forehead, making some sort of crown. The gritty sand makes the young lion cub sneeze as it finds its way into his nose. Mufasa and Sarabi come close to each other, and once again, cuddle their heads together showing the pride and affection they have for their new child. After he sees their satisfaction, Rafiki lifts Simba out of Sarabi’s arms and carefully cradles him on his shoulder. He slowly strides out towards the edge of Pride Rock where all the creatures are gathered and pauses for an instant. Moments later, Rafiki uses his strength and lifts Simba up into the sky, presenting him to the kingdom. At once, all the animals hoot and holler for their new lion prince. They act like the crowd at a football game. Simba gazes across the land, taking in the scene with curiosity and amazement. He is truly wonder-struck, but little does he know that this will be his
