The product I used for this assignment was the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. First, I will talk about the advertisement that uses the central route of persuasion. This commercial shows the car driving up into the camera and then the camera cuts inside the car. Then it starts to state facts about the car. It begins with showing the Equinox can fit 5 people in it and then shows the rear leg room. Lastly it talks about the cargo space in the car. This commercial makes no real attempt to grab your attention it simply is stating the numbers and facts about the car. For example, “Your passengers can enjoy an impressive 39.9 inches of rear leg room.” These commercial will be most effective when the listener cares about the message (Lecture, October3, 2017). …show more content…
In this commercial it shows a young woman and shows here in three major stages of life and in each one she is driving a Chevy Equinox. First being her first time leaving home, the second is her first baby, and final is the first day of school (in this one she is picking her daughter up from school). Then finishes by saying that no matter what stage you are in your life you can depend on the Chevy Equinox. This commercial doesn’t state any facts or information about the car. It just trying to grab your attention by showing that you can rely on this car for any situation you might end up in. For example, when it shows her pregnant and we are led to believe her water has broken. It shows them loading up the car and leaving this is a situation where you want to be able to depend on your car to get you to the hospital and that’s the point the commercial is trying to show, that you can always trust the Equinox. This type of commercial if most effective when the listener doesn’t care about the issue or is not paying attention (Lecture, October 3, 2017). However, this type of commercial is ineffective when the listener does care about the message because the commercial is not providing them any of the information they are interested in. This commercial will only produce a temporary attitude change because it isn’t giving you any information that will stick with you. The advantage of using this method is
