I am P.O. Andre Dennis star # 9036. I’m applying for a promotion to Sergeant of Police with the Chicago Police Department. The Sergeant is a prestigious position that is undoubtedly critical to the delivery of quality police services. While the acknowledgement of this fact is universal, first line supervisors who meet the demanding standards and expectations of this position are in a class by themselves, a rare exception. With that said, I am the most excellent candidate for the position. As a supervisor you want a team that will go over and beyond, but if they would just do what is expected according to job description, everyone pulling their own weight, we could better serve and protect the city we took an oath for.“ The nature of police work and its supervision allow subordinate officers many opportunities to engage in questionable practices. This includes variations of neglecting their duties. Police discretion allows officers work entire shifts, or multiple shifts, without showing tangible evidence of performance. If no tickets are written and no arrests made, there is little evidence that the officer was actively pursuing his or her duties. This does not mean that an officer did nothing; it just means documenting the officer’s work can be difficult at times. I believe that my ability to analyze and accurately observe will help with any prolonged absence of productivity. In my almost 20 years of service I have work for a number of sergeant I won't say that I worked for some good sergeant or some bad sergeant but I will say that I have worked for some tell sergeant and some sell sergeant mostly tell sergeant with me known what the tell
