During recent years the food industry in America has perceived millions of the youth as a main dominant market force. Since these children and the adolescents have been a major target, devoted food marketers are fascinated by the youth consumers. Because most of the food markets are trying to pull in the youth because they are the major consumers. Although genetics often influence the body type and size, there are other factors to consider as well. People in society now are gaining weight because fast food is easier to gain access to rather than fixing a meal at home. People often indulge in a high calorie, non-nutritious snacks, also drinking their calories. In todays society they use many ways to reach our youth, beginning with television advertisements, computer games, and having toys in some meals. Marketers luring in children seems unethical because children do not comprehend the difference between reality and fantasy. All parents should show concern over the way that fast food companies are pushing their children to become overweight. Food industries often spend billions of dollars each year to market the products they have. The American Psychological Association says, “Advertising directed at child these young are by its very nature exploitative.” Children often remember the content from the ads that they have often been exposed to. The product reference can begin with just one product commercial which then only strengthens in numbers the longer they are watching. Children often seem to lack self-control to what the media is putting out for them to view. The companies can make advertisements that can make one have an emotional attachment to food.
