There have been reports of kids under the age of 12 weighing in at over 200 pounds. Parents are responsible for what their kids put into their bodies. Families have lots of different opportunities presented to them to choose healthier options, some choose to take advantage of this and some don't. Parents have a variety of different foods that they can offer to their kids. What they allow them to eat is completely their decision. Parents should create a plan that positively influences their kids to make healthy choices on their own so, eventually the obesity rate will go down.

There are plenty of websites that parents can go to and get help to develop a plan that they can customize for their own family. If they do not want to do this, then there are just a few simple step that they can follow, one step they can do is to have regular family meals, which can be comforting for the children and will make them understand that eating is an agricultural act and not a stop and go activity . Next they could serve healthy foods, whether it be snacks or meals it should be healthy. Make it easy for kids to make healthy choices by keeping mostly healthy food stocked in the house, such as low-fat or nonfat dairy products, poultry without skin, lean cuts of meats, whole grain breads and cereals and healthy snacks such as fruit and veggies If it is there the kids will most likely eat it. Also, being a good role model for children to feed off of is a great way to encourage healthy eating. kids follow the lead of the parental figures, eating healthy and not indulging in the less nutritional foods will be sending a great message for the kids to follow. Then, letting kids be involved in the dinner making process will be an enjoyable for everyone. Letting kids help make the food gives them a sense of pride, and thus making actually cooking meals a happy experience.
