Parents must take steps to address the cause of childhood obesity More children today are suffering from obesity, it’s obvious by how overnight they are. When evaluating the average diet of children in America it’s pretty shocking. For one, many of them start the day off eating cereal which is like candy with milk. Most commercials don’t encourage healthy eating, and snacking on junk food is a norm for todays youth. Usually young people are good for sipping on soda pop, eating candy, and hanging out at their favorite fast-food restaurant with no real restraint to how much sugar, salt and cholesterol they intake. Whether it’s sports, biking on weekend, or encouraging them to play outside, the goal is to keep them active.
To be more specific running is one of the best things you can do to control weight, and it’s good for the heart. Heart decease is one of the major killers in the United States and children suffering from childhood obesity is more likely to experience a heart attack or some kind of heart problem due to high cholesterol levels. Physical activity will not only help young people lose weight but insure a healthy body inside and out. Parents should teach their kids about healthy eating or at the least portion control when it comes to things like junk and fast food. The best way to teach children is by example; if the parents eat junk food all the time so will the child. It’s necessary for the parents to establish good eating habits for the sake of their kids. It’s always better to conform children to healthy eating when they are small. Staring them on vegetables, serving fruit for snacks instead of ice cream and chips will not only maintain good eating habits but keep the child healthy and strong. Young people spend most of their time in school so making sure they have a healthy option to choose from is wise. Schools have recently made some attempts of providing healthier options for children however they continue to serve food
