Chris Kyle: The Hero and Legend Chris Kyle was born in Odessa, Texas on April 8, 1974 (“Chris Kyle Biography”). His father was a Sunday school teacher and taught him to shoot at a young age. Chris retired after serving for ten years as a Navy SEAL (“Chris Kyle Prezi”). Chris Kyle showed heroism in these three different ways: his display of selflessness, bravery, and altruism. Chris Kyle displayed selflessness. He always put others before himself. After coming home from war,he helped with vets battling PTSD (“Chris Kyle Biography”). He knew what they were going through so he always tried to do whatever needed to help. Going to war in general in always am act of selflessness. A hero displays acts of courage, and he definitely did that. Going off to war, far away from home and your family is not something that just anyone is brave enough to do, but Chris Kyle was different. He was very brave and courageous. He was a sniper, meaning that he would sit for long periods of time by himself in a dangerous area all so that we could live in safety (“American Sniper”). That is a huge display of bravery and supporting reason that he is a hero. No one wants to die, and Chris is no different. Although he didn't want to, he was willing to because he loved his country.
