As Chris McCandless grew older, his perspectives on money seem to change over time due to the occuring of different events that has happen in his life. Starting off by becomig an entrepreneur/saleman, to thinking that wealth was shameful, corrupting, and inherently evil. At the age of 8, Chris began his own business by growing vegetables behind his house in Annadale in order to sell them door-to-door around the neighborhood. His mother, Billie, always considered him as a great entrepreneur because she sees the potential in Chris. On top of that, at the age of 12, Chris open up his own copy business around the neighbor hood where he will offer free pickup and delivery. He named his business Chris's Fast Copies. Krakauer describes Chris as a very astonishing salemans without peer. Being able to get an offer to work is one thing, but as month and months goes by, Chris was leading a few students who were working under him. He also put seven thousand dollars into his bank account. All of the hardwork that Chris put in from the moment that he was an 8 years old till his senior years in high school has given him an opportunity to afford a yellow Datsun. This event illustrate the moment in Chris's life where he thinks that money was still an essential equipment for him in life and wanted to make more in order to survive. But as time and time goes by, Chris began to have a different view about money. We already know that in the beginning Chris burned all of his money before he left Alaska because he thinks that money is controlling his life and he want to be indepedent without the help of his parent or money.
