The Civil War started in 1861 due to multiple disagreements over the Morality of slavery, States Rights, lack of good leadership and economic Interests. These four causes are controversial, North and South both have a different reasons to why it was started. For example North was justified on this war because they wanted to abolish slavery to end inhumane treatment, but the south wanted to defend their views. They had to determine the survival of the United States of America as it defeated the offer for independence by the breakaway of the Confederate States of America. The Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both sides believed that slavery caused the Civil War. Men mainly believed the war was to emancipate the slaves. Confederates, or people that support savery, fought to protect southern society, and slavery as part of it. From the anti-slavery perspective, the issue was primarily about whether the system of slavery was an out of time evil that was incompatible with Republicanism in the United States. In relation to source 3, slavery was a cause of the civil war. The four men depicted in the cartoon are force-feeding a Freesoiler. It quotes “Forcing slavery down the throat of a free soiler”. This picture shows the conflict between the citizens, Confederates, mostly the southerners, want to force slavery for their well being and economic growth, however, mostly the northerners, who are used to free soil, want equal rights and get the South enriching scheme over. Slavery divided the country for a long time since it was in its early years. Northerners rejected that belief as opposed to the will of the Founding Fathers who said they were setting up a perpetual union. According to source 8 States are free to secede from the union, because it's justified upon that the states are independent and no one has ever denied it. This source shows that the ones think that seceding is the better solution, while others think running away from the problem is going to create more division and hatred between all of the citizens. If the states started seceding, the United states of America will break apart and the better solution is to create another country with its own rules and government system. But they cannot do that because the ones that do not think running away from the problem is the better solution will fight to unite the now broken United states. This is a cause of war due to the discordance of the civilians and North and south started a war to show the pride in how each side’s rules are the solution. According to source 9, Abraham Lincoln, the current president at the time, states that no State may lawfully get out of the Union and any acts of violence within any state against the authority are rebellious and revolutionary. Once again, this just shows the discordance generating in the country.
